Explores the purpose and functions of museums with particular emphasis on relationships with communities and on the ways in which knowledge is created and preserved through collections and research. Topics include history and organization of museums and collections curatorship, research, documentation and care. Emphasis on role of museums, their collections and the knowledge these convey in contemporary society.
